Replicating the Di-Octo II: A Kinetic Study
This project involved the detailed recreation of the Di-Octo II wind kinetic sculpture, a prominent landmark located near Concordia University. The goal was to bridge the gap between public art and mechanical engineering through digital simulation.
Project Highlights
Software Used: The entire model was built using SolidWorks.
Motion Study: Beyond static modeling, the project included a comprehensive motion study to replicate the fluid, rhythmic rotation of the original sculpture.
Visual Fidelity: The digital version captures the intricate, multi-bladed design that allows the sculpture to react to wind patterns.
By utilizing industrial-grade software to study artistic forms, this project demonstrates how 3D modeling can be used to analyze and preserve the mechanics of complex kinetic structures.
